At the foot or on the side of the mountain, in the heart of the forest, around the Lake Valley, many villages reveal their picturesque charm. These authentic Vosges mountain villages invite you to stroll around to discover them and awake your curiosity

VAL DE MEURTHE

Situated 20 minutes from Gérardmer and composed of the three communes of Anould, Saint Léonard and Saulcy, the Meurthe Valley runs between mountains and rivers up until the entrance of Saint Dié des Vosges. From densely populated village centres to the forests which clothe the surrounding slopes and ridges, it varies between 400 and nearly 1,000m altitude. Hikers can follow many paths on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike to discover great pine forests and panoramas of the Vosges mountains.

How to get there ? From Gérardmer, go towards Saint Dié des Vosges via the RD8.

LIÉZEY

Thriving with its 330 inhabitants, Liézey possesses all the picturesque charm of Vosges mountain villages. Built around the church (constructed by the inhabitants in the middle of the French Revolution in 1792) and the town hall (the highest in the Vosges), Liézey is surrounded by working fields and forests.

How to get there ? From Gérardmer, go towards Remiremont. At the Beillard, take the road on the right to Liézey; Distance : 7 km

GRANGES-SUR-VOLOGNE

Situated at a height of 505m, in a very picturesque valley, the Vologne Heights are made up of the communes of Granges sur Vologne, Aumontzey, Barbey-Seroux, Champdray, Herpelmont and Jussarupt, and 10 km from Gérardmer, Bruyères and Corcieux.This is the land of daffodils, pines, limpid springs and the remaining vestiges of the glacial era (the Champ des Roches)

BAN DE VAGNEY

Basse sur le Rupt – Gerbamont – le Haut du Tôt – Rochesson – Sapois – Vagney.

LA BRESSE - HOHNECK

600 m - 1363 m.

To fully meet the needs of its family clientele, this small mountain town has just launched a real plan of action to welcome children : emphasizing sites and visits adapted to families with children, pointing out accommodation offering the “baby pack” and a whole string of good ideas to be found on www.labresse.fr

In summer

Themed walks allow families to ramble through nature whilst also having fun (discovering chamois, lamas, etc …). For those wanting to experience stronger emotions, the "Parcours des Aventuriers", Fantasticable, bunjee jumping, or the original experience of a trapper's meal in the heart of the forest will delight them.

In winter

This resort situated in the heart of the “Parc Naturel Régional des Ballons des Vosges” is the main winter sports resort in the East of France (3 ski areas and a vast cross country skiing area). It thus offers a wide range of activities (alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snow shoe walks, sledging, skating rink etc) and the ski slopes are adapted to different levels of ability.

LE THOLY

A village of 1,589 inhabitants clinging on to the mountainside, Le Tholy is situated at the crossroads of the roads to Remiremont, Epinal and Gérardmer. Crossing through fir and spruce forests, footpaths give wide views. Mountain farming is still alive. The dairy, the main activity in the village, produces the « Géramont », the « Montagnard » and the equally world famous "Caprice des Dieux" .

CORCIEUX

In a countryside family setting in the mountains, Corcieux is located in a wide valley crossed by the river Neuné (540m high) near main routes and Vosges mountains '15 to 20 km)

How to get there ? From Gérardmer, take the road towards Saint Dié – take a left turn when leaving Gerbépal or 1km further on at the Col du Plafond. Distance :15 km.

LE VALTIN

An authentic Vosges village (750m high) nestling in the hollow of a valley reminiscent of the Alps and crowned by vast pine forests, Le Valtin is situated at the foot of the high pastures and the Col de la Schlucht. It looks down on the Rudlin valley which is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Vosges

In summer you will be able to appreciate its many walks ; in winter you will be able to enjoy alpine skiing on the Hautes-Navières slopes, cross country skiing through the forest anda t the Schlucht.

How to get there ? From Gérardmer, take the road to Xonrupt-Colmar, then the road to Le Valtin (CD 23 on your left, after a block of shops on the edge of the Xonrupt road). Distance : 14 km.

BUSSANG, FRESSE SUR MOSELLE, SAINT MAURICE SUR MOSELLE

Community of the communes of the Ballons des Hautes Vosges and the Source de la Moselle

Situated near Gérardmer, the Community of Communes groups together 3 villages situated between 544 and 1,260m high. Bussang, St Maurice/Moselle and Fresse/Moselle come in succession along the river Moselle : 3 charming little villages which have just as many and varied activities on offer as the big resorts.
